MAY PROGRAM
“Graffiti/Stencil Art by Krystal Poe”
May 21st from 7-8P.M. after regular members meeting. Krystal Poe, LAA President, will speak about the history and styles of graffiti art and demonstrate how easily artists can create this effect using a roller, acrylic paint, an exact-o knife, poster board, and a basic canvas.

An Intro to Silk Screening with Jim Townsend June 23rd.
During our last members meeting on April 23rd, Jim Townsend gave a program on an introduction to silk screening. Continuing his program, Lakeland will have a Silk Screen workshop on June 23rd at his residence during the afternoon. The goal of the workshop is to create Lakeland Art merchandise (bags, shirts, and etc) to sell in the gallery. Designs are personally created by the individuals who participate. We will have the agenda set shortly and sent to each member by email/mail. If this sounds like an opportunity you are interested in, call the gallery to sign up!

May 12– Learning Watercolor Through Still Life 1-4p.m. Artlink presents artist and FWCS art teacher, Scott Kilmer. Participants will learn techniques pertaining to materials and medium by painting a still life. Ages 18 and up. $40 for non Artlink members. Must bring your own tube watercolors, paper, and brushes.
May 12– “Make Your Own Monster” 2-4 p.m. Make your own little monster while learning basic sewing skills! Kids will learn straight stitching, how to appliqué, and how to sew on a button. Kids can decorate them anyway they choose, even changing the basic pattern to make a more unique monster. Appropriate for grades 3 - 8.
Instructor: Amy Clark. 35 General Public Supplies included.
May 9-Kids' Art Exploration with Erin Patton-6-7p.m. grades K-8 will make art with Erin Patton, a Fort Wayne art teacher. This program takes place every two weeks. Children may work on the designated project for that evening or begin their own explorative project with guidance from Mrs. Patton.
May 18th-19th– DeFries Gardens 3rd Annual Juried Art Show. Best of Show: $300, First Place: $200, Second: $150, Third: $100. Show date on Saturday, June 9th 2012-includes live music, lunch for sale, and children’s art activities. Submissions made at Goshen Painters’ Guild. 2012 Winona Art Fair Opportunity
Last month we had announced this opportunity and we are starting to get the details arranged. LAA has raised money for supplies and Winona Village will match that amount. We need an individual to create flyers and hand outs We could also always use extra volunteers. Call or email if you are interested.

Each year the Village at Winona has their own art fair. This year LAA will cosponsor PAGACS (Pierceton Art Gallery and Ceramic Studio) for Winona’s 13th fair on June 2nd and we are in NEED of volunteers and teachers to help and HAVE FUN!
